Walhalla Goth Camp is designed to be a fun week-end with a group of like minded individuals. There is no formal ticketting process, just show up for the week-end & meet lots of new people.

This year Gothcamp is 14-15 June 2008. Following is also information about Walhalla itself, your accomodation options, activities you may like to enjoy within the town & all sorts of other titbits (*giggle* I said "tit")

I can't promise that the humour will get any better, but what I can promise is that you will be given the opportunity to explore your community & its people in a fun, interactive & non-threatening setting.

Your input is welcomed, which will help shape the way Gothcamp develops. Although remember that it is impossible to please every-one.

So I guess for the moment, all there is to say is "book now - can't wait to see you!"

Accommodation:

For the most part we have all stayed at Walhalla’s Star Hotel. The advantage of all staying in the one venue is that it provides a focal point for people to mill around, meet each other & get to know each other. This might not seem important to those who know other people attending but believe me, if you attend a week-end away on your own it is much easier to get to meet people when you know where they will be hanging out and that they will be all together.

Michael, the owner of the Star, is very Goth-friendly and has always looked after us. He has waived the hire charges on the conference room for us and has done his best to accommodate our evening meal requirements, to the detriment of his own restaurant. For my part it makes it much easier to help every-one have a good time if we all stay in the one venue. It also used to be the only reliable venue in town offering accommodation. This however has changed in recent years and there are now a number of options available. Please see under cut for accommodation options.

Please note you need to book your accomodation directly with the venue. The options are limited so I would suggest booking ASAP. I have not got pricing on a number of the options as yet but you can either call yourself or keep popping back to this post as I will update costs as I get them.

Free room, you'd just need to pay for your dinner ($40) and find your own way too & from Gothcamp.

Picnic food planned & preparations have been made.

Approx 400mts of black organza has been washed and ironed (and remember - I don't wash or iron - there's dedication for you)

A *huge* pile of stuff has appeared in my dining room ready for Mr Pxx to play car tetris on Thursday night.

Left to do?
Cooking for picnic.
Clothes packing (I have my big suitcase down from the roof for that - heh)
Cajoling of the last few folks I am hoping will attend.
Last minute shopping for trivia nibbles.
Confirmation phone calls with suppliers.

Want to come up to Gothcamp but can’t afford the accom?

What about just coming up for the picnic & afternoon’s entertainment, which includes the free guided cemetery tour!

Gothcamp is week-end after next.

Gothcamp officially kicks off with the picnic at midday on Saturday. You will need to leave Melbourne between 09.00 & 09.30 to get there in time.

The picnic will be held in the picnic grounds in the centre of town. There is an under cover area with a bbq. That’s where we’ll be. You will definitely be able to spot us – trust me ;)

BBQ is self catered. Please bring food to share and bring your own drinks, just not too much. We *always* over cater.

Don’t wait to get to Walhalla to buy supplies because there is no-where to buy anything better than plastic dip & stale corn chips. Stop in Yarragon or *cough* Moe or bring stuff with you.

Note for those staying overnight - there is no refrigeration available at The Star so consider this when choosing your picnic supplies.

The Star is booked out but there are still rooms at Windsor House. So it’s not too late to book.

We would encourage any day trippers, who do not want to stay in Walhalla over night to join us for the picnic & the afternoon’s entertainment! Just be sure to let me know so I can ensure we snaffle enough space in the picnic ground.

Two & a bit weeks to Gothcamp *bounce*

I have now had confirmation from Windsor House that they have four rooms available for 14th of June. Rooms start at $160.

You would need to add $40 p/p to your budget for dinner at The Star.

So if you're interested in Gothcamp but missed out on a room at The Star, all is not lost!

But book quickly. Once Windsor House is full, the options become very limited.

Yay!! It's official, the Star is now fully booked!!

I would love to say it is fully booked with our lot, but unfortunately do to an administrative mix up, we have eight out of the 12 available rooms at The Star....That's OK, we'll scare the others off.

There is still a few rooms available at Windsor House. We have had folks staying there in the past. Unlike The Star, Windsor House is one of Walhalla's original historic buildings and has a charm all of it's own. It is not even a full minute's walk from one venue to the other so you will certainly not miss out on any of the fun by staying at Windsor House.

But as accom in toen is limited, if you are wanting to come to Gothcamp, book at Windsor House NOW. It would be awful to miss out on the fun.

It is highly likely that the last room at The Star has been booked. It ain't official yet but face mooshing has been executed & pressure placed ;-)

However if you are still yet to book all is not lost.

We have one Gothcamper, with a room already booked, who is offering to share his room for a discounted rate in exchange for transport to & from Walhalla.

This offer is for the Sat night only.

The discount is a substantial one which means you would only be paying for the transport, your dinner ($40) & a small room contribution!

Michael will only be holding our block booking until next Monday. After that he will need to re-open bookings to the rest of the world. If you’ve not booked, now is the time to get on to it.

It would be ace if we could fill those remaining rooms before that happens. The record for room bookings is one short of the whole hotel. Let’s see if we can make 2008 the year when we take out the entire place!!
